Going to Smithereens
We decided to make a trip to visit some friends of ours who live in the mountains. Their lovely little area of the world is called Smithers and has a population of about 5,351 people. They are surrounded by mountains, picturesque scenery and fish filled waterways.
We took our time getting there and (of course) stopped to take lots of pictures. The first night we stayed at a lovely little B&B, and on the next day of our travels arrived at our friend's home.
Along the way we found this little history site/museum that was closed for the season. But we were able to walk around and look at everything outside. I'd like to go back when they are open, because it looked like an interesting place to visit!
We arrived around 4pm at our friends John and Katreina's house. It would be hard to say who was more excited, them or us!
That night John had a hockey game. So we brewed ourselves some tea and headed out to do some cheering!
The next morning these excited guys headed out to do some fishing. John is an avid fisherman and so it made for quite the fishing experience (from what I've heard)!
Meanwhile in town, us girls were trying out all the food spots and shopping a bit.
The coffee shop we visited had the most creative biscotti design, picture below.
When the guys got back that night we got to hear all their fishing stories and watch some epic video footage! We also showed them our pictures of the day and I let Luke look at my biscotti :)
The next day was a snowy one, so we stayed housebound for most of the day. Eating crepes and playing an addictive board game called "Survive".
After a fun filled weekend full of laughter and lots of stories, we said our goodbyes and headed back home.
We stopped that night at a resort in Jasper that had a beautiful lake and mountain view.
The next day we saw a..
Beautiful scenery made the drive go by quickly!
We really enjoyed our visit with this awesome couple and we are looking forward to seeing them again sometime this winter! Hopefully on a ski hill ;)
